To do a job the right way, you need the right tools. That’s why Dr. Chouinard uses only the most advanced technology and techniques that dentistry has to offer. Each piece of equipment serves to make your experience with us more comfortable and more efficient, all while giving you better results and helping you make more informed decisions about your treatment. Below are some of the tools we utilize on a daily basis in our practice.
Although Dr. Chouinard has extensive training and experience, he can’t see into every nook and cranny in your mouth. X-rays are critical for diagnosing tooth decay and other oral issues, and our digital technology allows us to collect this information without exposing you to dangerous radiation. In fact, digital X-rays entail 90 percent less radiation than traditional X-rays and are available for evaluation immediately, so we don’t have to wait for them to develop, saving you time. Plus, the sensor for taking these X-rays is smaller than traditional X-rays, making the whole process a little more comfortable.
Although digital X-rays give us a good picture of your oral structures, we like to gather even more information to perform procedures safely and accurately. Our Sirona XG3D cone beam scanner creates a 3D image of your entire oral cavity, including blood vessels and other important features that can impact your treatment. That way, Dr. Chouinard can plan your procedure more precisely, ensuring that you get the best possible results.
If you’ve had traditional impressions taken, whether for a dental crown or other restoration, you know how messy and unpleasant they can be. This method of impressions is also occasionally known to produce inaccurate models, leading to ill-fitting restorations and appliances. Instead, we use CEREC Omnicam to digitally scan your mouth. Not only is this more enjoyable for our patients, but it also results in more accurate data for crafting restorations and appliances that fit perfectly.
Did you know that Dr. Chouinard can help you with more than just your teeth? Your soft tissues play a critical role in your smile, which is why it’s important to take care of them too. We use Pioneer diode, a soft tissue laser, to do a myriad of procedures, including gum disease therapy, frenectomies, resolving “gummy” smiles, treating canker sores, and much more with little to no bleeding, no need for stitches, and virtually no pain!
